For more than three decades, the Early Bird Café was a gathering place on Danbury Road in Ridgefield. Families came for omelettes and French toast, regulars claimed their seats at the counter, and the staff kept the coffee flowing from breakfast through dinner.

Since Judy Cusack opened the Early Bird Café in 1991, this family-owned diner earned a loyal following across Fairfield County. Patrons called it the best breakfast spot in Ridgefield, and many said the burgers were the finest in town.
The dining room had that classic small-town feel: neighbors at the counter, kids with their parents, and waitresses working every table with a coffee pot in hand. Generations of Ridgefield families made it part of their weekly routine.
In January 2026, the owners announced the café would not reopen following a kitchen fire in late December 2025, closing a chapter that lasted 35 years. This site preserves the menu, photos, and memories of a place that meant a great deal to the community.
